Build a new market for an established Dutch business.
An established Dutch company in the self-storage sector is exploring its expansion into Portugal. We are inviting expressions of interest from entrepreneurial leaders who would be interested in building and leading its local business.
The company provides flexible storage space for private and business customers. This opportunity combines commercial development, property-related expansion and operational leadership.
The opportunity
As Managing Director, you would shape the Portuguese market entry and turn the company's ambitions into a local operation.
The anticipated scope includes:
- Developing the market-entry strategy and business plan for Portugal.
- Assessing customer demand, competition and potential locations.
- Identifying expansion opportunities and building relationships with property owners, agents and local partners.
- Establishing the local organisation, processes and service standards.
- Building and leading a team as the business grows.
- Driving customer acquisition, occupancy and revenue growth.
- Managing business performance, budgets and profitability within agreed responsibilities.
- Working closely with the leadership team in the Netherlands on priorities, investment proposals and progress.
Your background
You have experience growing a business, opening a new market or leading an operation with commercial and financial accountability.
Relevant backgrounds could include self-storage, commercial real estate, property operations, retail expansion, hospitality or another business operating across multiple locations.
You bring:
- Strong knowledge of the Portuguese market and business environment.
- A track record of turning commercial plans into results.
- Experience with budgets, financial planning and business performance.
- The ability to evaluate locations and negotiate with external partners.
- A practical approach and the willingness to get involved in the detail.
- Experience building teams and establishing effective operations.
- Professional fluency in Portuguese and English. Dutch would be an advantage.
