Senior Cloud Architect (AWS)
Location: Lisbon area | Hybrid
We are partnering with an established and highly innovative technology organisation that is undergoing a major transformation of its core platform.
This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a large-scale migration from on-premise to AWS, within a business that operates at the intersection of data, retail intelligence, and advanced technology.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Cloud Architect, you will play a pivotal role in redesigning and migrating a complex, high-volume platform to AWS.
This is not a purely strategic role — you will be hands-on, leading the migration approach while actively contributing to its execution.
You will be working on a platform that processes large-scale behavioural and movement data, delivering insights that directly impact business decisions at enterprise level.

Your Role
- Lead the end-to-end migration of a large on-premise platform to AWS
- Define and implement the cloud architecture and migration strategy
- Work closely with engineering teams across multiple locations
- Act as a technical leader, guiding decisions and ensuring best practices
- Contribute hands-on to the migration, including problem-solving complex system challenges
- Help modernise parts of the platform, including upgrades within the Java ecosystem
Tech Environment
- AWS (EC2, RDS, VPC, Load Balancing, CloudFront, Route 53)
- Java (Spring ecosystem, Hibernate, Maven)
- PostgreSQL and complex data structures
- Containerisation (Docker)
- Security & infrastructure best practices
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience leading cloud migrations at scale (on-prem → AWS)
- Strong background in cloud architecture combined with hands-on execution
- Solid experience within Java-based environments
- Ability to work with complex, high-traffic systems and data-heavy platforms
- Strong leadership mindset — able to guide teams and take ownership
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills
