Senior Software Engineer – Cloud Data & Analytics (FinTech) (Jave and/or Python)

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer (5+years) to help scale a rapidly growing FinTech’s cloud-native data and analytics platform used by leading global market participants.

You’ll play a key role in building secure, resilient, high-performance systems that power large-scale data distribution and analytics — with a strong hands-on focus across engineering, automation, and data visualisation.

Location: Hybrid role based in Lisbon, Portugal

What You’ll Be Doing

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

• Drive the development of scalable, cloud-native solutions supporting a fast-growing fintech platform

• Translate business objectives into well-architected technical designs using best-in-class GCP services

• Build highly reliable, secure systems with clear failover and continuity strategies

• Plan and deliver structured releases with minimal disruption and robust rollback processes

• Collaborate across product, data, and engineering teams in an agile environment

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a strong technical culture of ownership and excellence

Must-Have Experience

• 5+ years of professional experience in Python and/or Java

• Strong experience with relational databases or cloud data platforms (SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar)

• Hands-on experience with data visualisation frameworks such as Plotly, Bokeh, or Matplotlib

• A strong ownership mindset — you take responsibility for both the problem and the solution

• Natural curiosity and the ability to deeply understand complex systems

Nice-to-Have (Highly Valued)

• Experience in regulated environments (finance, life sciences, etc.)

• Exposure to cloud-native and serverless architectures (GCP a strong plus)

• Experience with Dash or similar analytics front-end tools

• Background in data engineering and large-scale data processing

• Familiarity with FIX protocol and/or exchange connectivity

• Experience evolving or owning technology stacks end-to-end

• Confidence working directly with senior technical and business stakeholders
