For one of our international clients, we are looking for a People (HR) Advisor to join their growing operations in Lisbon. This is a strategic and hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a high-impact environment with both HR and business operations responsibilities.
About the Role
As the sole People Advisor in the EU region, you’ll lead HR operations across multiple countries including Portugal, Switzerland, the UK, and other European locations. This role blends traditional HR responsibilities with elements of finance and business support, making it an ideal fit for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Compliance
- Manage day-to-day HR operations for Portugal and other European markets.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws across Portugal, Switzerland, the UK, and the EU.
- Own end-to-end payroll processes, social security submissions, and HRIS administration.
- Handle employment contracts, terminations, and visa/work permit procedures.
People Programs & Performance
- Lead performance review cycles, job leveling, and compensation benchmarking.
- Guide managers on employee relations and ensure consistent policy application.
- Coordinate regional onboarding and offboarding processes.
HR Systems, Data & Reporting
- Oversee HR analytics and reporting using tools like Excel, HRIS platforms, and dashboards.
- Track key HR metrics and translate data into actionable insights.
- Optimize systems for better accuracy and compliance tracking.
Finance & Administrative Support
- Liaise with payroll vendors, assist with invoice processing, and support vendor payment cycles.
- Ensure compliance with financial and payroll policies.
- Support financial reporting for HR-related expenditures across multiple jurisdictions.
Employee Engagement & Development
- Help drive employee engagement programs and internal communications.
- Support the rollout of global learning and development initiatives.
- Organize local events, town halls, and internal campaigns.
Who You Are
- A proactive problem-solver who takes ownership of both strategic and operational tasks.
- Confident working independently across multiple departments, including HR, finance, and legal.
- Data-driven, with solid experience using Excel to build reports, track trends, and support decision-making.
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and a solution-focused mindset.
- Fluent in English
- Skilled at navigating compliance in complex, multi-country environments.
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in HR operations, payroll, and compliance across multiple EU countries.
- Strong understanding of labor legislation in Portugal and familiarity with other EU markets.
- Experience supporting finance tasks such as payroll reconciliation and vendor invoicing.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS systems and reporting tools.
- Previous experience in high-growth environments or international companies is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field preferred.
