Confidential Search – Chief Executive Officer (Portugal)

About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing technology organization backed by a global group with a strong heritage in mission- software and digital transformation. The company is establishing a new entity in Portugal that will deliver high-impact software and engineering solutions for international partners in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and industrial automation.

The organization is poised for rapid scale-up, with plans to grow to several hundred employees in Portugal over the next 2–3 years. The culture combines technical excellence, entrepreneurial agility, and international collaboration.

The Role

The Chief Executive Officer will lead the new company in Portugal, with full accountability for strategy, operations, and financial performance. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will drive the company’s growth, establish its local and global presence, and ensure delivery excellence across all business units.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute a strategic roadmap aligned with shareholder objectives and client commitments.
• Build, inspire, and lead a high-performing executive team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Oversee P&L ownership, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability.
• Drive the company’s employer branding and talent acquisition strategy to attract top engineering talent.
• Ensure operational alignment with group standards (compliance, security, and quality certifications).
• Serve as the main point of contact with strategic partners and clients, ensuring long-term collaboration.
• Represent the company in the Portuguese and international tech ecosystem.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in a CEO, Managing Director, or General Manager role within a technology, software, or engineering environment.
• Strong background in leading complex delivery organizations (preferably in automotive, aerospace, or mission-critical industries).
• Demonstrated success in scaling operations and managing multi-million-euro budgets.
• Deep understanding of organizational governance, ideally in a joint venture or multinational setup.
• Experience building and mentoring cross-functional leadership teams.
• Excellent communication skills in English; Portuguese or German is an advantage.
• University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; MBA preferred.
