Frontend Developer – Lisbon

About the Company

A stealth-mode digital platform is entering a high-intensity build phase and is expanding its engineering team. The product is a next-generation online experience combining immersive content, dynamic catalogue features, and advanced user journeys. The organisation works with a no-inventory operational model and relies on synchronised data flows across multiple external partners and technology providers.

The team is now seeking a highly skilled Frontend Developer to drive the interface layer of the platform and help deliver a refined, high-performance user experience.

Role Overview

The Frontend Developer will take ownership of the user-facing environment—translating complex data structures, editorial elements, and multi-brand integrations into fast, intuitive, and elegantly crafted interfaces.

You will collaborate closely with the Technical Lead, backend engineers, and external delivery teams to ensure seamless communication between the frontend and the platform’s underlying systems.

This is a role for someone who enjoys solving hard problems with clean architecture, pushing UI/UX expectations, and building polished, scalable user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

1. Frontend Architecture & Development

• Build, optimise, and maintain the platform’s frontend using modern frameworks.
• Ensure performance, accessibility, responsiveness, and cross-device consistency.
• Implement reusable UI components and design systems that scale.
• Translate complex operational and editorial flow requirements into intuitive interfaces.

2. API & Data Integration

• Integrate real-time product feeds, content modules, media assets, and partner data.
• Work closely with backend teams to ensure smooth and reliable data flow.
• Handle asynchronous data, nested structures, and dynamic UI states efficiently.

3. Shopify & Platform Logic (Frontend Layer)

• Work with storefront APIs, custom frontend logic, and client-side rendering approaches.
• Support the development of unique customer journeys such as curated product flows and time-sensitive drops.
• Build or enhance custom components tied to platform-specific modules.

4. UX Implementation & Micro-Interactions

• Bring designs, wireframes, and prototypes to life with pixel-level precision.
• Implement animations, transitions, and interaction patterns that elevate the browsing experience.
• Ensure UI logic aligns with editorial storytelling, featured partner campaigns, and phased product releases.

5. Version Control & Code Quality

• Work within the team’s Git-based workflows following best practices.
• Deliver clean, well-documented code and support code reviews.
• Contribute to CI/CD processes affecting the frontend delivery pipeline.

6. Performance, Security & Reliability

• Monitor frontend performance and optimise for speed, stability, and SEO.
• Implement secure client-side practices that align with data and privacy expectations.
• Proactively address bugs, edge cases, and UI/UX inconsistencies.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Frontend Developer within digital platforms, e-commerce, or fast-scaling products.
• Strong proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, Next.js, or equivalent).
• Deep understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, client-side rendering, and state management.
• Experience consuming REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Familiarity with Shopify Storefront API or similar commerce APIs (a strong plus).
• Strong command of HTML, CSS/SASS, responsive design, and component-based architectures.
• Experience working with Git and collaborative engineering workflows.
• Robust debugging, optimisation, and problem-solving capabilities.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with high-end digital products or content-rich experiences.
• Familiarity with headless commerce ecosystems.
• Exposure to automated testing tools (Jest, Cypress, Playwright).
• Understanding of asset-heavy frontends, media pipelines, or dynamic catalogue systems.
• Experience in animation libraries (Framer Motion, GSAP, Lottie).
