SCADA Engineer (Junior to Mid Level)
Lisbon – Parque das Nações (Hybrid)
Full-time
The Opportunity (This isn’t just another junior role)
Earlier this year, a European industrial tech company quietly planted its flag in Portugal. Not with noise – but with intent.
Their model is simple: build serious engineering capability by investing in people who are wired to learn fast.
They’ve already done it successfully in other markets – taking junior talent, exposing them to real-world automation challenges early, and accelerating them into highly capable engineers.
Now, they’re doing the same in Lisbon.
They’re opening one junior to mid level seat for someone who don’t just want a job, but want to build something meaningful, learn rapidly, and get hands-on with real industrial systems from day one.
If you’re the type who naturally pulls things apart to understand how they work – this is where you belong.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing – You won’t be sitting on the sidelines.
From early on, you’ll be:
- Supporting the design, configuration, and testing of SCADA systems alongside experienced engineers
- Connecting systems end-to-end: PLCs, sensors, historians, MES and IoT platforms
- Getting exposure to real client environments—factory floors, live systems, real constraints
- Learning how to troubleshoot, document, and think like an engineer under pressure
- Rotating across projects to build broad, practical capability
- Gradually owning your own deliverables as your confidence grows
The Tech Landscape You’ll Be Exposed To. You don’t need to know everything – but you’ll be surrounded by it:
- SCADA: Siemens WinCC, GE Vernova iFIX / Cimplicity, Rockwell FactoryTalk
- MES & IoT: ThingWorx, OperationsHub, Plant Applications
- Data & Historians: OSI PI, Influx, Timescale
- General Stack: REST APIs, SQL Server, Git, Python, React
Translation: you’ll touch the full modern automation stack – not just one piece of it.
What Really Matters (Beyond the CV)
This is where they’re different.
Yes – engineering backgrounds help.
Yes – some experience is a plus.
But what they really care about is this:
- You have a genuine hunger to learn – not because you have to, but because you’re wired that way
- You’re naturally curious about how systems work, connect, and scale
- You’re energized – not intimidated – by complex environments
- You take ownership, even when you don’t yet have all the answers
- You communicate clearly and think logically
If you’ve studied engineering, great.
If you haven’t, but you’ve built, experimented, or explored automation in your own way – you’re still very much in the game.
Strong Bonus Points:
- Any exposure to automation, SCADA, or PLCs (academic or practical)
- Basic understanding of SQL, Python, or Git
- Experience with data flows (even conceptually: SCADA → Historian → dashboards)
Why This Role Stands Out
Most “junior” roles keep you in a safe bubble.
This one doesn’t.
- You’ll work on real European projects early
- You’ll learn directly from engineers who’ve built systems in energy, manufacturing, and utilities
- You’ll follow a clear path into SCADA / MES / IoT engineering
- You’ll be part of a growing tech hub, not a static team
And most importantly:
You’ll be judged on how fast you learn and evolve – not just what you already know.
The Kind of Person Who Thrives Here
Someone who:
- Gets genuinely excited by industrial tech and automation
- Doesn’t wait to be told – they explore, test, and figure things out
- Sees complexity as a challenge, not a blocker
- Wants to build a long-term career in modern industrial systems
If you’re looking for a comfortable role, this isn’t it.
If you’re looking for a place that will push your growth hard – and reward it fast, this is exactly it.
If this is you, (even if you don’t tick all of the boxes), then apply using the ‘APPLY’ button.
